The health status of leader of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu is said to be critical according to a statement issued by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful.
According to the statement, the group revealed that it got information about Kanu’s health status from his lawyers who visited the critically ill inmate at Kuje prison recently.
The group via the statement revealed that Kanu was suffering from chest and abdominal pains as well as a violent cough and his poor health might not be unconnected with the bad treatment he had been allegedly subjected to by prisons officials.
The group called on the international community to talk incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari into allowing Kanu have access to medical treatment to deal with his ailment.
“We have notified the international community about his present condition which include debilitating abdominal pains and occasional tightening of the chest resulting in cough, which has persisted.” The statement by Emma read in part.
Continuing, he noted that; “The Department of State Services has this information in its record and we suggest it makes it public for the world to know. Kanu’s loss of blood through bleeding from the nose prompted the agency to send in an external doctor to examine him while in their custody.”
