Army recovers large cache of ammunition from Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army has announced that its troops, on Friday, recovered a large catche of arms and ammunition from the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram.

The arms and ammunition were recovered at a residential area of Bulabulin Ngarna, Borno State.

This was was disclosed by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, in a statement on Saturday, adding that the discovery was made after a tip off by members of the Civilian JTF.

According to him, the troops recovered three sealed boxes of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, three jerry cans containing various calibres of ammunition, two sacks containing 5,998 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition and 1, 760 rounds of 5.56mm SS109 calibre of ammunitions.

He also disclosed that He said that five empty magazines of AK-47 rifle and a magazine of Fabrique Nationale rifle were recovered.

Usman, who commended members of the Civilian JTF for their display of patriotism in the ongoing campaign against the insurgency in the North East, called on members of the public to be security conscious and also report all person suspected to security agencies.

He said: “Troops on Operation Lafiya Dole deployed in the outskirts of Maiduguri following a tip off from the Civilian JTF in the area have recovered a large cache of ammunition at a residential area of Bulabulin Ngarnam, Borno State, today.”
